JULY 2023

The greatest consolation he received was to look at the sky and the stars, which he did often and for a long time, because with this he used to feel in himself a great impetus towards serving Our Lord.  Autobiography of St Ignatius Loyola.

Dear ,

This month we continue the JISA Discernment Series with Releasing Energy and Consolation. Pope Francis writes that consolation is the “experience of inner joy.” A deep joy that ignites energy, inspires hope, and strengthens the inner person.

It is the gift that is summed up in the words of St Paul to the Ephesians (3:16) “In the abundance of his glory may he, through his Spirit, enable you to grow firm in power with regard to your inner self.” Consolation is the power and energy that roots and grounds us in Christ’s love, enabling us to grow in ourselves and in our ability to love and serve others.
